Explore the Western Chugach

-Wilderness Access within 30 minutes of Anchorage-

Leave the city behind. Leave the trails behind. Navigate through the valleys and forests, follow and cross the creeks, watch the wildlife, traverse the ridge, climb the mountain, enter the alpine, gaze at a sea of peaks.

Chugach State Park encompasses 500,000 acres. Seventy-five percent of the park is alpine, and 10% is covered with glaciers. Hike away from civilization into BIG country. There are opportunities to be dropped off by small airplane.

Most visitors (and Alaskans!) gaze upon what we call the 'front country' of the Western Chugach mountains. You don't need to drive anywhere to have a wilderness experience within Alaska, you just have to step off the road and start walking. There is a very good chance you will see more mountain goats, sheep, moose, bear, glaciers, and marmots than people.

Explore Tour -

Start above tree-line and head into the upper valleys and alpine areas of the front-range. Navigate alpine ridges, earn tremendous views, relax alongside alpine lakes. Depending upon client preferences and abilities, there are opportunities for moving fast and "bagging peaks" - or taking it easy, base-camping with day hikes.
The five days allows for more ambitious exploration and access to glacially active areas of the park.

Base camp and point to point trips available in dramatic landscapes, with access to glacier viewing and exploration. Destinations vary depending upon group size and intent.
