Mike
is hoping to complete a trek from Skolai to the Nizina Glacier this
summer, sometime in early to mid-August. The exact dates and trip
duration have yet to be finalized, but it looks to be a trip of
between 6 & 8 days in length. This route goes through grandiose
and relatively untouched terrain, will involve a few creek crossings,
travels on the Frederika and Rohn Glaciers, and has up close views
of some of the area's largest peaks and glaciers. This is a special
and usually overlooked way to hike away from the increasingly crowded
areas around Skolai Creek. The pace of this trip will be easy to
moderate, allowing plenty of time for some large format photography
along the way. This is a custom trip, so we don't have a detailed
descripton of the route on our website....if you're curious, please
don't hesitate to ask us!
Skolai
to Chimney Mountain (Nizina Glacier),
20 miles, 6-8 days
Early to mid-August (dates to be determined)
******NOTE: These prices are based on
a 6-day trip******
Cost for 1 additional hiker: $2,210 per person
Cost for 2 additional hikers: $1,900 per person
These prices include all food, glacier equipment, and backcountry
airfare.

We've
got 2 folks interested in our 8-day mountaineering trip on the Bagley
Ice Field sometime in the end of June or early July. They are hoping
to find 1 or 2 more partners to help reduce the per person cost.
This trip focuses on alpine mountaineering in one of Wrangell St.
Elias National Park's most striking places: an ice field of staggering
size and scope with a lifetime of unexplored peaks and ridges waiting
for the motivated adventurer. Climbers interested in this trip should
be ready for a little bit of everything including alpine ice, hanging
glaciers, steep snow chutes and ridges, and some occasional rock
climbing. This is one of the best all-around spots in the Park for
seriously remote and untouched mountaineering! Click
here to see our description of this area on our website.
Bagley
Ice Field Basecamp Climbing,
8 days
Late June / Early July (dates to be determined)
Cost for 2 additional climbers: $3,000 per person
This price includes 2 guides, all backcountry airfare, and food.

Nathan
had a great trip with us in 2005 and is back for another! He is
interested in finding hiking partners for the spectacular Twaharpies
Traverse from July 23rd - 27th. This 5-day trip is moderately strenuous,
with a few steep sections that require hikers to be in good shape.
Don't let the terrain scare you, this hike is well within the abilities
of any strong backpacker with previous experience. Interested folks
should be craving a challenging hike with huge and rarely viewed
scenery as their reward every step of the way! Nathan is also considering
a few alternate starting points that would add a few extra miles
to the trip, depending entirely on the group's experience. For strong
hikers on a budget, this opportunity to go big in the Wrangells
should not be ignored! Click
here to see the descripton of this hike on our backpacking section.
Twaharpies
Traverse, July 23-27
Cost for 1 additional hiker: $2185
Cost for 2+ additional hikers: $1950
Note: These costs include all food during the trip, backcountry
airfare, and round trip transportation between Anchorage and McCarthy.

Western
Chugach, Explore Tour July 21-25th (mon-fri)
5 day/4 night. $875 per person
Denise
(Anchorage resident), is looking to join two or three more people
for a scheduled hike outside of Anchorage. She is a certified yoga
instructor and will be leading optional yoga sessions twice a day
during the trip. One area she'd like to access is the upper reaches
of the North Fork Ship Creek, below Pyramid Point, Synclavier Mtn,
and Synthesizer Peak. There are some hanging alpine valleys we'd
be spending one day exploring with day packs. Accessing this area
requires covering some ground, crossing over a pass or two, and
doing a little bit of work. The majority of this trip is in the
alpine. Total trip distance may reach between 20 and 22 miles.
