Eklutna Traverse elevation profile

The Eklutna Traverse is truly a Chugach mountain classic! You won't believe that glacier scenery this expansive and amazing is available so close to Anchorage until you see it for yourself. This route covers the expansive Eagle, Whiteout, and Eklutna glaciers as it traverses between Girdwood and Eklutna through some of the most eye-popping terrain in the area.

This trip can be tackled in a few different ways. It can be completed in either direction, depending on your desires and abilities. Depending on the time of year, we may choose a route on Goat mountain or the Raven headwall. This trip can be done without air support, requiring strong and hearty legs, or we can catch a flight onto the top of the Eagle Glacier to beat the steep climb up Goat mountain.

Craggy peaks and massive glaciers abound at every step of the way. You'll see why this is one of the more talked-about trips available in the Western Chugach mountains!
