The Fan Glacier, located in one of the furthest corners of Wrangell - St. Elias National Park, is an area that typifies the wild, remote, and largely unexplored reputation of Alaska.

We are dropped off among the sandy beaches, sparse willows, and open mesas near the ice of the glacier. Mount Tom White and its un-named neighbors dominate the skyline to the south from here.

From the glacier a lifetime's worth of exploring presents itself. Zig-zag through a maze of crevasses, climb an open ridge, or wander through a lush alpine meadow dotted with clear mountain lakes. The country and the views here are so grand that you'll feel as though there's nobody else on earth.
