This peak forms the head of the mighty Stairway Icefall and is an excellent venue for climbers to hone their skills and enjoy solitude.

We land on the eastern extremity of the Nabesna Glacier, around 5000 to 6000 ft, and ski/snowshoe up the glaciated northern side of Mount Regal, establishing camps, till we intersect the northeast ridge around 12,000 ft. Crampons and ice axes replace skis/snowshoes and the climbing begins. Beware, the views can spin your head!
