From the airstrip near the headwaters of Skolai Creek there are many directions to head for great day trips, as well as various camps within an easy day's hike.

Watch house-size chunks of ice crumble off the Russell Glacier into Upper Skoai Lake; gawk at the Hole-In-The-Wall Glacier, with seven independent icefalls tumbling into the shadows of Mt. Baldwin; explore Chitistone Pass and the upper reaches of Chitistone Canyon and historic 'goat trail'. Walk along an elevated, open plateau for fantastic views of the mighty St. Elias Mountains, including close-ups of Mt. Churchill and Mt. Bona. This is a special place offering a variety of different hikes and wonders.
